Nick Edwards

Nick Edwards is a nationally renowned Exercise Physiologist. In his current role, Nick is responsible for leading the clinical integration initiative; while serving as the methodology expert and facilitator for clinical integration teams across the organization. Essentially Nick is the quarterback of his team. His role is to integrate the clinical care team; whether he’s tackling something with the physical therapists, personal trainers, or physiologists in order to monitor a patient for their best interest. As the methodology expert, he is the first point of contact when there is a question or concern that arises. Nick has worked with athletes, general wellness, and patient populations for the past 11 years; directing exercise physiology laboratories and strength programs. Drawing on his years of experience, Nick has amassed a wealth of knowledge on how to revolutionize exercise.

In what started off as a way to help athletes optimize their training time Nick, and his team of experts, set out to develop a test that would give them quantifiable data; to determine at what level an individual can maximize their workout.  Nick knew there was a better, and more accurate, way to determine a person’s peak workout potential; rather than the outdated “220-age” equation. Through analyzing a person’s metabolic data Nick, and his team, were able to develop the Lactate Metabolism Test.

Along the way, Nick asked himself the question, “Can this method be applied to the masses; rather than just an athletic population?” The answer was a resounding yes. Through the measurement of blood parameters, at the cellular level, the Lactate Metabolism Test can be used for weight loss. The test will  also identify if an individual is burning fat, or something else; such as what they’ve eaten throughout the day. For an athlete or someone who is trying to better their health, and optimize time, the test can be used to ensure they are not burning muscle. In addition, it can be used to avoid injury, while training, by using quantifiable data to determine if a person is able to push through a workout.

Since developing the Lactate Metabolism Test, Nick has instituted this method in a variety of practices across the U.S.; including NBA, NFL and NHL teams, and a bariatric weight loss clinic. Nick’s methodologies have proven to be revolutionary in providing a way to help fitness-minded people get an idea of how their body responds to exercise. Today, there are thousands of people that have utilized this method of training and have recognized the benefit across the board.

Within the Apex Program, Nick’s Lactate Metabolism Test will be used to identify a client’s peak workout zone. The Test will be performed at the beginning and end of the Apex Program.  Along the way, Nick will meet with clients on 5 video calls, to help each unique individual, to set fitness goals through nutritional and sleep advice; laying the groundwork for success. Nick will monitor your progress and help direct the Apex team to focus on an individual plan for success.

Nick currently lives with his family in Denver, CO. He serves his community by sitting on advisory boards, educating on the effects of trauma, and consulting on physiology. As a previous collegiate and professional athlete, he maintains an interest in exercise science, contributing to governing bodies in musculoskeletal programs, medically-integrated fitness, and athletics.
